Grounding wire????
Guys,
do i need to strip the paint in the area where the grounding wire attaches to the core support or will it be ok without stripping it down? dont know if the starr whasher will dig in and do that. there are two spots on the core, one on each side. thanks. Mando |

It does make for a better connection if the metal is bare.
But, bare metal does rust and isn't appealing. I would suggest make a good clean, tight, bare metal connection, then hit it with a coat of spray paint to match the rest of the metal to keep the aesthetics clean. It won't interfere with the ground.

I think i would just make sure its tight. The threads are bare metal and should make a good connection.

You dont need it to be bare metal, but it helps if it is. Paint will get in the way, but for the most part it wont matter, you should be fine just tightening it down, but if it were me i'd take off the paint directly underneath the bolt head, so you dont see it and it helps with the bare metal connection

Thanks for the info all.
I think I will go with the option of not taking it to bare metal first, but if the system decides to not like it, what would be the tale-tale signs that it wants me to take it to bare metal for better connection. Also, do i put dielectric grease on these grounding bolts, washers, loops...? Thanks again for all the help trying to put it back together. |
