52 Chevy Project.

Hello everyone. I've been perusing these forums for a few months now while I searched for my project truck. Well, I'm pleased to say, I finally found it. I plan to follow similar paths as others have here and of course ask a ton of questions. My first question will soon follow, but first a general picture of my find..

My first question: To those who may have used a Ford 9inch or 8.8, what did you do about the front hubs to have matching lug patterns?

Welcome and congratulations on the purchase.

I am running a Ford 8.8 rear end, however my front hubs were purchased from CPP. They are Chevy bolt pattern, which is fine for me as my front and rear tires are not the same size.

Re: 52 Chevy Project.

Many aftermarket wheels have a 5 on 4.5 and 5 on 4.75 pattern both. Else order a Mustang 2 with 4 on 4.5 bolt pattern.

Re: 52 Chevy Project.

Thanks for the replies. I work in a salvage yard so I have near infinite options for swaps and changeovers so I was hoping someone could provide insight on some swap spindles that may bolt on with minimal modification. More searching may reveal this answer, I'm in no hurry.

Furthermore I've read most of you guys build threads multiple times and have found a ton if info, not to mention some great looking trucks.

Re: 52 Chevy Project.

well, if you have any 50's chevy cars with disk brakes they will transfer over to the original straight axle. I have a cousin that has disk brakes off something like a '54 chevy car that had disks on his original straight axle. I don't know the exact year of the car but he said it was a direct swap, bearings and all. I hope this helps.

Re: 52 Chevy Project.

-EDIT- Thanks everyone for the welcome.

Not much of an update really, just been gathering ideas and parts mostly, making a shopping list.

I do have one question, those of you who are using S10/S15 frames, I know my wheelbase is around 117 inches. Has anyone with a likewise wheelbase used the frame from a 124in wheelbase truck? Any drawbacks or differences than using a 118in wheelbase?

You just have to use a longer bed. See my build, I used an extended cab s10 frame (124" wheelbase).
