Re: Bearing part number np205 th350

The "fix" is to replace the old coupler shaft with the later style that uses no bearings, and replace the seals. After `73 they quit running the support bearings. I would think that the original coupler could be run without bearings as well but if it looks like a lot I have looked at the coupler may be kind of loose in the splines and while you have it apart it is a goood time to replace it.

Re: Bearing part number np205 th350

I have a January built 1972 K20 which still has the bearing.

For those who wish to keep the bearing in place the part # is MRC 209S. The only bearing I could find still had the 209 number but had a groove cut in the outside of the bearing for a retaining ring on another application, it did not interfere with my application and fit perfectly.

Here are the rest of the part numbers for the square O ring, 2 inner seals and t case to adapter seal (mandatory!! do not seal with RTV)

O ring : TK30046
Seals : 471424
T/C seal: TK10516, QU50450

Re: Bearing part number np205 th350

finally taken the transfer box out, there is some wear on the support bearing but nothing great. the input shaft bearing on the transfer box has excessive amounts of wear on it and was making the noise. metal filings are all inside the transfer case. the gear look fine though. what would case the input bearing to fail after 300mile?

its not like you have to set any clearances as its a roller bearing?
oil starvation? plenty of oil splashing around in there although some atf mixed in with the gear oil.
Faulty bearing? skfs
