vintage air unsure fit

The lines on my evaporator don't seem to be in a suitable configuration for the firewall template. The small line is the one in question. It barely passes thru the bulkhead while the others protrude sufficiently enough to make the connections. Any ideas or suggestions?

Re: vintage air unsure fit

After I tightened all of the lines in the correct position, I did have to bend mine slightly to match the pattern on the bulkhead plate and to extend far enough.

Re: vintage air unsure fit

looks fine, I had to bend and manipulate mine to pass properly thru the firewall template. The small silver line you see running up the inner fender well is the line that will attach to the line your talking about. you have room to maneuver.

Re: vintage air unsure fit

Yep, thanks guys. There was enough to get a hold of. Seems the Vintage Air instructions are somewhat vague.

Re: vintage air unsure fit

So far so good I guess. It's still not finished yet, but the quality seems good. I went with the "sure fit kit" the components are packed in component packs, i.e. the condenser, the evaporator, the brackets, etc. Each component pack has its own instructions which are mainly an exploded diagram with a brief set of steps, (reminded me a little of carb rebuild instructions) it is however quite do-able. Even by myself I make steady progress. You need to scource your own pulleys, heater hoses, and belts but pretty much everythng else comes packed in the boxes.

13k +tax, shipping, the parts I mentioned, the cost of getting it charged up...13 becomes 16 or more really quick.

If you get it from Summit it is free shipping. That is where I got mine.

Re: vintage air unsure fit

You could also just get the Evaporator Kit from Summit for 780.00 with free shipping and then get the compressor, condenser, hoses, etc later as money allows ...

That's the way I'm doing mine ...
