What are these dash holes for?

Ha. "Dash holes". Anyway, I may have asked this before, but does anyone know what these two outboard holes are for? One is below and right of the lighter, the other is below and to the left of the heater controls.

They're empty now during reassembly but when I got the truck it had flat (slotted) screws in them. What they held, I have no idea.

I hope this isn't one of those that I should have had welded up but didn't know it wasn't original. I already have one of those for the previous owner's parking brake reminder light!

Re: What are these dash holes for?

I think the two holes were to hold a non-stock item, like a microphone clip, screwed to the dash.

Re: What are these dash holes for?

I could be wrong, but I don't think there were any slotted screws used in these trucks anywhere
