67 Redo

I am restoring a 67 1/2 ton long box. I mainly want to use it as a daily driver that gets fair fuel mileage with mild performance. I would like to pull out the 250 L6 with a 4 spd and swap in a V8. I have read where the 67's did have an option of a 3 spd with OD. I have a donor 67 Belar 4dr 327 with the 3 spd w/OD. Would this be a good choice for the project, or would I be better off with a 350 SBC/700R4 combo. Also which tranny would be better for light towing? I just found the site, I think this is a great resource!!!

Welcome to the board from sothern oregon. If it was me I wouls go with a 350 700r-4 combo unless you can spring for a gear vendor's overdrine unit....
