Which Rubber Products For Vent Window Rebuild?

Getting ready to redo my vent windows. Before I buy the parts, I'm looking for opinions on where to buy the rubber. For those that have done it, which rubber or kits offer good longevity and quality -- which rubber products fit best and last longest? Let's hear some testimonials. Thanks.

Re: Which Rubber Products For Vent Window Rebuild?

i got some from lmc and the rubber cracked before they got reinstalled. i have a 64 that is (was) ALL original and the vent rubber still looks like new. i have to assume that all the suppliers get their products from the same port in taiwan or china - i could be wrong tho'

Looks like the Steele seals are almost $100!!

Another question -- what did everyone use to put the glass back in the frame, glass setting tape or glazing urethane?

Thanks.

Precision makes great seals.

Use glass setting tape, make sure you get the right thickness or the glass will be too loose, or too tight to install in the frame. It's better to go slightly loose if you can't get the correct tape and use a couple dabs of urethane on the ends. If you only use urethane then you'll never get the glass out of the frame if one ever breaks.

Look up GMC Pauls or Classic Heartbeat. Both vendors sell Precision and support this forum.
