1966 Frame question
I have a 1966. What other years have the same frame. Is it only 1960 to 1966? I'm converting from LWB to SWB. Thanks for any help!

Re: 1966 Frame question
63-66 have the same frames basically. The 65-66 have a little different trac bar mount. 60-62 have an X frame with torsion bar front suspension and it's wider.

Re: 1966 Frame question
Frame change came in 63. Why not cut down the one you have? Lots of threads on how to do it and No Limit has a conversion back half.

Re: 1966 Frame question
Sorry....I totally messed that up. For some reason I was thinking seat frames......as mentioned above 63-72 frames are pretty much the same minus 65-66 track bar difference and frame horn on the 67-72.

Re: 1966 Frame question

The photo below shows my 1965 short frame. The 1965 e-brake cross member is the large flat black bar seen in the photo and marked "disregard". I have mocked up some 1966 e-brake pieces that include a rod, a cable, and 2 cable guides. The photo only shows some of the pieces. Basically, it does away with the cross member.

Re: 1966 Frame question
The '63-'66 frames are easily interchanged. The '67-'72's will work, but there are a few things that need to be changed. When you change frames you get into possible legal issues with having a frame and body with different VIN's. I would just shorten the original frame. If you do not have the capability to do the job correctly, find someone that does. Cutting and welding a vehicle frame is something that has to be done correctly and with very good welds. If you must change the frame, check with your local DMV to see what is needed to make it all legal.
