1970 grille on 1971 truck HELP

I remember reading a thread about this a year ago or so. I searched for it but can't find it. I recall reading that I would need a couple different brackets for this. Anybody know which ones I need?

I need to pick up the inner/outer grille. Who makes the best reproduction? A friend of mine has the smooth outer with stickers, it looks alright. I found some with stamped and painted letters for $550 or so. (Eckler's)

Thanks

For sure you will need the grille support brace, front bumper, & bumper braces. Maybe the hood latch too, can't remember for sure on that.

Yes you will need the hood latch too, along with the parking lights.
The grill you found for $550 with the stamped letters is more than likely an original GM nos one.

Re: 1970 grille on 1971 truck HELP

There are a few out there that are stamped with painted letters. Classicparts.com has a very nice one.

I have a very nice original 1971 bumper already. My thought is to wire it up like the newer Toyota Tundras. The lights in the grille would be on while driving. We call them cruisers in NW Oregon. The bumper lights would only be for blinkers. Take that one step further, and alternate blinks from bumper to grille (bumper blinker on, turns off grille blinker) vise versa back and fourth.

Its an easy mod on a Tundra or Tacoma, I've never seen it on a 67-72.

Thanks for the bracket info. I'm thinking I read about needing the hood latch
