1953 Fuel gauge connections
Stock original 53 cluster gauge. Wondering which post of the fuel gauge goes to sending unit and which is power. My shop manual (49-53) page 12-31 says the sending unit wire connects to the "larger" terminal. Problem the two terminals for the fuel gauge are identical in size. I do see part of a red tag on one of the two fuel gauge terminals. Does anyone know which terminal connects to sending unit????

Re: 1953 Fuel gauge connections
The red tag tells you how to connect it or rather how not to connect it but I can't remember what it actually says. I have one at the shop and can tell you tomorrow if no one else chimes in.

Re: 1953 Fuel gauge connections
I am not in Michigan to check for sure but I do know that they put the red tag on the sender side. If you research that tag, it will even state on the tag that it is for the sender side.
Hope this helps but I would get another in put on this to confirm. Take care, Tom
