Re: Rectangular Body Mounts

I was thinking it was Padresag that found ones that would work. I believe it was the mounts for a '67-'72 Burb or Blazer?

Edit: here's the thread.......

Re: Rectangular Body Mounts

Capt. I see that Ethyl has been seen wandering through your area.
I just checked with Classic industries as they seemed to be the last of who was stocking them. their new catalogue doesn't seem to show anything. a phone call to them may help.
they don't seem to want to deal with Canadians as they don't show any phone nbrs and their 800# doesn't work here. there are some anal companies down the that don't appreciate our money
CP-Anderson Rubber use to have this really heavy 3/4" black sheet rubber that would be ideal for making them. there is a local dealer(70 mi. away) but the person that answers the phone didn't seem inclined to get off his backside and look into it. my brother used to buy it from them there 25 years ago , but I can't ask him because he ain't around anymore. I have enough for my own use. I will supply a picture of it later. they wouldn't be that hard to reproduce except for how to bond the rubber to the steel and I have thought of a way to get around that

Does the steel necessarily have to be attached?

it may help in preventing them from squashing out especially with the nut on the bottom. the rubber surfaces both sit against the frame and the flat steel parts are to the outside. that rubber sitting against the frame sure causes a lot of rust problems in the trucks where they sit. If a person could weld a small lip around the steel plate it would work to hold them in place. my thoughts on making them. on the originals there is a raised half lip around the hole, so when you put top and bottom together they interlock and they fit in the hole in the frame and the bolt goes up through. I would bore a hole in the rubber to be able to put an insert in to make the raised piece and the bore a hole through for the bolt

how did you make out with your floor.

The floor is done but I am not all that happy with the way it turned out, that being said I may have actually make time to go out and redo it.

Re: Rectangular Body Mounts

Would the kit for the 67+ work?

part#14149G $149.95

http://www.classicindustries.com/pro...ts/34149g.html

Why would they have to be rectangular shape?

My 66 GMC has round body mounts, and I can say that nothing has ever be fixed or repaired on mine.

they have been selling those for quite a while but did not show up when I did a search there the other day(unless you look thru the cataloque they may show up as may the rectangular
actually the rectangular have been used right up into about 2002 blazers but have been discontinued
why rectangular I suppose would be surface contact - load bearing vs the round as the just sit on top of the frame for most of them. mind you the rectangular are rubber and the round ones are polyurethane. they do use them top and bottom of the frame flange.. the rectangular ones have mainly flattened over the years
now when you state that you have round in yours are to referring just to the front body insulators or the other 16 insulators required for the rear
I don't know how those polyurethane insulators will be for squeaking. no one has ever said a word about them

Re: Rectangular Body Mounts

Ron

Mine are round throughout. The poly is a big seller for suspension, does it squeak when used for that? I have never used it so I don't know.

If I pull the body (big if) I will try them and hope for the best.

If anybody has actually used the poly round, please post your experience.
