6 cylinder code help
I found a thread that says get the ID number off the plate by the 6 distributor but I don't know what they mean and can't find any where that says what they mean. Can some tell me? F0625PF

Re: 6 cylinder code help
Good job finding that code. That makes it easy.
F0625PF F = Flint engine assy 06 = June 25 = 25th PF = truck, 1969, 250cid, 155hp, 3sp, 1bbl That's for 1969. 1968 also used the same PF code for the 250, but with a 4sp. If you want to make sure your engine is a 69, you can check the date code on the block. It's a CAST number, on the passengers side of the block. Right behind the oil dipstick tube. The casting number will be to the right of the date code. |

Re: 6 cylinder code help
I use a book by Mark Allen, but there are several sources online. Use suffix code or engine application code, as a search term. Along with Chevy engine or similar terms.
In your case I kind of did just know it, cause I have a 68 that had a 250 in it, code PF. |

Re: 6 cylinder code help
Just reread your post and I don't know where I got 69 from. Oh well, 68 is the same only with a 4sp.

Quote:
Makes sense, since the engine itself would be unchanged (250cid, 155hp, manual trans, 1bbl) and wouldn't know if it was a 3 spd or a 4 spd hanging off the back. That would allow them to simply reuse the same part number between '68 and '69. K
