C-20 fender emblem?

Hi guys, new to the forum. did a quick search and didn't see anything about this question.....

Have a nice 66 C-20 fleetside. I have the old C-20 fender emblems, but they are pretty faded. Tried LMC but they only carry C-10 emblems for half tons. Anyone else re-done a 3/4 ton and found new or replica C-20 emblems anywhere? If not, is it possible to get them painted? Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. My apologies if this question has already been addressed.

Re: C-20 fender emblem?

I only see c-10 emblems being repoped currently. Keep eyes peeled on ebay for OEM or NOS emblems or try the forum classifieds here.

Re: C-20 fender emblem?

If the paint is just faded you can respray them. If they are starting to pit.....cast parts like these can be a real chore and expensive to have rechromed. Any pics of what your working with?

Re: C-20 fender emblem?

Firstly, welcome to the forum! I don't think you will find reproduction C20 emblems in the aftermarket (not enough demand). If you keep your eyes on ebay, CL, and the parts board here, you might locate some very nice used badges, or even NOS if you are really lucky.
If the condition of your chrome plating is decent, repainting emblems is actually not that difficult. Use carb cleaner and a tooth brush to remove all traces of old paint. Then, (once you find the right color) carefully "flood" the recessed area of the badge with new color. The tricky part is reducing the paint to the ideal viscosity. Thin enough to flow out evenly, but heavy enough to cover in one shot. I've successfully used a surplus medical syringe to quickly and accurately distribute the paint.

Anyways, as you can see they have some minor pitting but not in terrible shape. What do you think?

Re: C-20 fender emblem?

I think they look salvageable. I'd do as oem4me suggested and clean then up. It'll take an hour or so of your time and very minimal costs. If your not happy with the end result then I'd look for some better replacements.

Your emblems actually look pretty good as is. Better than most I'd say. A light clean up/polish is maybe all you need. I personally prefer the look of a well preserved yet authentically aged item over a freshened one, but it's your truck.
I'm guessing that if those emblems are looking a bit rough to you, then the truck they go on is pretty darned nice. Yes?

ha ha, yes.

The paint is pretty good, its not a show quality truck but a pretty nice daily driver. The only things I have done so far in the 5 years I have had her is replace front and rear bumpers with chrome and re-do the exhaust/mufflers with 2 pipes straight out the back.

The next thing is to clean up those emblems like you guys suggested. Next summer I plan to re-do the wood box with the oak kits ( I am already researching that procedure here). After that I will re-upholster the bench seats and for my grand finale I eventually hope to upgrade the motor and trans.

Love this site so far, it is so big and vast it boggles my mind...and I've only viewed not even the tip of the iceberg so to speak. Appreciate the help!

Re: C-20 fender emblem?

That is fairly easy with a '71-'87 C20 donor. Changing the entire suspension, crossmember and all is a good way to go if your engine is out. I have heard that the disc brake lower ball joint will fit the '63-'66 lower control arm if the bore in the control arm is opened up a little, but I have not verified that.

those are really nice but why bother posting this in my thread then if they're not for sale? I know what they're supposed to look like new...
