Help changing idiot dash to gauges - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have GMCPauls directions but still have some questions,First I need to run a wire from battery to #12 position and remove exhisting wire, then run a wire from alternator to #1 position and remove existing wire, he says to put an inline fuse of 2-4 amps in this wire. Is this it ? I have already replaced my oil and temp sending units. Also I have put a new gas tank in the back ,any special wireing needed ? Thanks
