Cab trim and tailgate band removal?
I just got my grandpas old '87 R10 last week and now I'm looking to fix it up a little. Its a Custom Deluxe and I'd like to add the cab trim and the tailgate band to it. I'm really not trying to pay the high price of these parts new so I'm going to start scavenging local junkyards for them. My question is how do you remove them? I'd hate to find some nice pieces and ruin them trying to take them off.

Re: Cab trim and tailgate band removal?
You remove the tailgate band from the inside (opposite) side of the tail gate. There are some bolts that go through and screw into the tailgate band. As for the cab trim I have no idea as I don't have it on my truck and have never removed them.

Re: Cab trim and tailgate band removal?
Reach up behind the rear speakers in the cab if you have them. It's the space behind the seat in each corner of the cab. You'll feel a 10mm nut. Take that off and the corner trim will then pull straight off the cab.
The long trim piece slides then to either side off the cab. You'll see what I mean...

Re: Cab trim and tailgate band removal?
Awesome, thanks for the help guys! I would have been pissed if I would have found a truck with the trim on it and I would have left my 10mm ratchet wrench at the house!

Re: Cab trim and tailgate band removal?
Scored this at the junkyard today for $10. Is there a good write-up anywhere on how to restore these? How do I install them on my truck considering mine didn't come with the cab trim from the factory?

Re: Cab trim and tailgate band removal?
I polished mine, there is a good right up on my build thread. The back cab trim slides onto plastic pieces that attach to nubs on the cab. Not sure how you would replace those.

Re: Cab trim and tailgate band removal?
I've been looking around at how to install them. I'm trying to decide whether to use 3M emblem tape or use screws to attach the mounting brackets to the truck.

You can find the proper clips and screws here. Type in "trim clip" in the search bar...

10 bucks, that's a great score! Look forward to seeing the end product.
