Smog removal
I'm working on someone's truck. They want to remove the air pump and other smog equipment. My question is, how will it run and how driveable would it be? It's an '87 C20 with a 454.

Re: Smog removal
It will work just fine and have a bit more power than stock. Make sure you either re-route or plug off all vacuum lines that need to be eliminated when you're done, and it will work just fine. You may need to tune the carb differently and slightly adjust the timing, but other than that, it's pretty straightforward.

Re: Smog removal
I pulled off the smog system when I put headers on my 87 TBI 350. I just plugged everything off and took off the pump and belt. I didn't adjust anything else. Everything seemed to run fine.

Re: Smog removal
If it has tbi then you wont have to mess with the carb at all. It should run fine.

Re: Smog removal
Cool!!!! Thanks everyone. I've pulled it off before but at the same time I've switched it to carb system. I wasn't for sure if it would mess with the TBI
