I just became the proud owner of this...

It's a 1966 short bed stepside, factory RHD with a 350ci small block and three speed manual. Loving it so far

It was imported from the US to the UK in 1974 and fitted with the V8 over here.

It just fits into my garage, which is good as it's completely rust free!

Runs and drives just fine, but needs some love to the interior and the paint is a little tired.

I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions, but I thought a quick introduction would be in order - if anyone knows anything about the Tarrytown RHD trucks, I'm keen to find out as much a I can.

The gauges are from an Impala (I think) as was the engine and gearbox. Happy to be corrected though. All in miles - speedo goes all the way to 48mph and then stops moving, so at least I can't get any speeding tickets!

First plan is to drive it a bit and show up any issues - the main one being that the seat needs new padding, so I can actually see over the steering wheel!

Over winter I plan to address the cab and fit some sound insulation, sort the window rubbers, fit the door cards and make it a nice place to be. Then overhaul the brakes and figure out the fuel filler/bed fitment issue - after that, just play around and fix whatever needs fixing.

Did that come as a RHD ? Model A Ford's all came with a hole on both sides of the frame so the steering box could be mounted to either side of the frame.

No heater/defroster

I believe so. There's no sign of work being done to the LH side to hide the removal of steering column/pedals etc.
If the VIN code showed it I'd know for sure, but as it was considered an option on Tarrytown builds, there's no proof.

That's a nice truck, with some interesting mods. I wonder why a previous owner felt the need to modify the firewall so much. I did notice that the cab does have the air intake hole in the cowl for the right side heater. I see what looks like a heater fan motor on the left side.

There's no heater motor or radiator that I can find - what are you seeing?

In the engine compartment on the left side there is a round black housing protruding from the firewall that looks like a fan motor. I guess it must be something else?

Ah! That is actually two rattle can lids, taped together, bolted to the firewall with about 6' of wire coiled up inside. No idea what it's supposed to do - probably keeps polar bears away.
