What the heck is this?

I'm thinking its not for our trucks, but I can't figure out what it actually is. It's clearly original GM.

The rectangular part looks like our speed warning buzzer (or battery relay or horn relay or AC relay), but with what appears to be a big capacitor as well.

It's not a seatbelt light, as the only car I have that has that uses a special bulb that turns off when it heats up or something weird like that.

I see a brown wire, which is normally brake or fuel. Could it be a low fuel circuit that triggers a light at a certain resistance? I'm stumped.

PS: Does anyone know a part number or source for the red Packard connector they used? I wind up making a lot of Packard Y-connectors for plugging in accessories and options but this connector has a pass-through built right into it, which would be deluxe.

Re: What the heck is this?

Del City has anything you may want from switches to connectors and beyond You can build your own wiring for your complete truck for 1/10 the cost of prefabbed systems .

Re: What the heck is this?

Gotta know what it is before I make one. There are two light bulbs in it, which is weirder still.

Re: What the heck is this?

if you dont know what it is or what it fits, why do you need to make one?...my plymouth fury keeps the bezel around the ignition switch lit after you close the door so you can see the keyhole...and the timer for it is a round can that looks like a flourescent light starter....so maybe its some sort of courtesy light delay harness

Re: What the heck is this?

I think I've figured it out. I have a '69 Pontiac cluster with three "special" idiot lights that were optional:

BELTS LIGHTS FUEL

The BELTS one has a magical bulb that turns off after heating up.

I think the circuitry above controls the LIGHTS and FUEL lights. Hence the two bulbs, the relay for the lights, and I'm guessing the round doo-dad to sense when the FUEL level drops below some resistance level (or goes above it, I forget which way they work).
