converting 2wd to 4x4???

I have found a 67-72 C10 2wd. price is right manual everything v8. I was wondering how hard would it be to convert it to a 4x4? probably using junk yard parts, Gm front axle, leaf springs, pass side drop Transfer case. might change to an auto.
Ideas, thoughts, I am freaking nuts.

Re: converting 2wd to 4x4???

There are plenty of threads on this topic. as a general rule i discourage converting a 2wd to 4wd. there are better options. the best would be to find a 4x4 truck to begin with. i have a good original 4wd, but its pretty rough so i am always keeping my eye out for nice 2wd trucks that i could use for parts.

As the others have said....4x4 conversions should be exactly that (conversions) from vehicles that were never available that way.
Either buy/trade your existing truck for a 4x4, or buy a 4x4 with a bad body and swap yours onto it.
