Vehicle Suggestions ? 2006-2008

Wife and I currently have a '99 Tahoe after having owned it for almost 8 years. Has 156K on the clock, bought it with 67K on the clock. Been pretty decent ride with some issues but seems ALL mechanical rides have issues from time to time. In the early talking stages of possibly up-grading to the mentioned 06 to 08 Tahoe or Suburban.

Some requirements are:

Cloth interior - don't like leather seats
Must be 4 Wheel Drive - long horse shoe drive that drifts in winter snows
Prefer clam shell doors over the hatch but not a deal breaker

Seems most of the 4WD vehicles nowdays are all push button, '99 Tahoe still had the floor mounted transfer lever which " I " like. Also has the 5.7 engine which I think was the last year then went to 5.3, not sure ??

Any serious built in by GM issues that can be pricey to fix if found AFTER the purchase? Too much computer crap now days, don't trust just my-self to check out a vehicle anymore, need some help from those experienced with these vehicles.

Pretty sure they're all push button 4WD in those years. Also, 2006 is the last year of the GMT800 Tahoe/Burb, then its 2007-2014 for the GMT900. Not sure on all the differences, but if it starts with the chassis, there will be plenty other than body style (your current tahoe is a GMT400) I know you can get clamshell doors on the 2006, not sure on the 2007+. Drive trains are pretty damn solid by those years. I'm sure there are other common issues, but i'd have to own one to know, you've got all my limited knowledge so far

Thanks for the reply, any others want to chime in with their thoughts or experience. Leaning towards an 07 or 08, just starting to look around.
