72 rear coil spring cut and drop

I have been looking for numbers and have not had much luck. Front springs on 72 c10 are about 2" drop for every coil cut off. I did 3/4 coil on the front and it sits and rides great. The rear springs are different in size so I would think the coil cut to drop ratio would be different. How much would cutting 1 coil in the rear drop the stance?

The rear coils are pigtailed and are not able to be cut like the front coils.

Thanks Leddzepp. Assuming that I can heat the cut coil and re-pigtail it, do you know the coil cut to drop ratio for the larger rear coils? All of this is temporary and I only drive this truck to shows and for the occasional weekend fun. I am getting the No Limit Wide Ride IFS bolt on for the front suspension with rack and pinion, power steering, Wilwood 4 wheel brakes, etc and c-notching the rear in the near future so everything will be done right. I'm hacking it for the time being :-)

I don't know if I have heard of someone re-pigtailing a rear spring, but you can always just heat the entire spring until it collapses to the height that you want.

However, I would recommend just getting lowered rear coil springs. Summit Racing has them for $100 and you can install them in 30 minutes with a little luck. If you can afford No Limit stuff, then I wouldn't sweat the $100 for a temporary fix. I have spent way more on parts just to turn around and replace them for no good reason.

Yeah...dont torch the springs, no offense but its worth it to buck up for "real" drop springs.

I bought 4 inch drop rear springs off ebay the other day for 62 bucks shipped. I think dude still has a few sets

Uneducated question...I haven't looked yet but it already has 4" drop springs on the back. I was looking to go down to about 5.5 without having to c-notch just yet. What are the options as it sits?

You can go with 5" drop springs without the C notch but you will need to go with a shock relocator kit and adjustable trac bar to make it work. Keep in mind that these parts are relatively inexpensive and you can always re-sell them here on the parts board when you go with the notch.
