Cordless impact

Tired of finding myself places with out and a air compressor and needing an impact. I have used a small 3/8 drive for years working on dirtbikes and decided I needed a big 1/2". Anyone have recommendations. As of now in gonna go with a milwaukee m18 fuel. Rated at 700 ft/lbs but test show it up to 900

I've got the Milwaukee kit for work that has the 1/2" impact and it's a pretty stout piece. I've almost purchased the Craftsman a couple of times for personal use but waiting on the DeWalt with their new 20v battery.

The Milwaukee m18 fuel is a winner. The only compact impact with more torque is the ingersol rand one, but it is only 30lbft more. I love my milwaukee's.

i used to sell tools sorry milwaukee will not hold up they claim to have even the best hammer drill but it wont hold up to the bosch brute

My uncle has an ingersall rand that he is very impressed with but it looks kind of bulky. Has good torque though. Hope that helps.

Thing is about holding up is it come with a 5 year warranty. All I have ever had is dewalt but it doesn't come close to the other brands. What's the word on the 20v dewalts? Can anyone buy off a snap on truck? I like the ir stuff just not available around here

The best power tools you can buy are hilti. Snap on cordless and corded power tools won't stand up to the abuse a hilti can take. Hilti is expensive though and that is why I have milwaukee's, but all my dad buys for our company tools are hilti and they take a beating. Hilti has the ONLY cordless hammer drills that will last and we have tried almost all of them. We have some that are 20 years old and still work like new. Their impacts don't have the torque like a milwaukee though. But you can't beat a hilti.

Well I finally got the milwaukee in. And damn its a beast. I had some rusted bumper bolts I needed off. Air impact wouldn't get it. 3/4" ratchet with a 3' cheater pipe just kept popping like the wrench was gonna break. Put the cord less impact on and in less than 2 seconds the nut was off. I'm thinking it was a pretty good investment

I haven't run into a bolt or nut that My milwaukee m18 first gen with 450lbft couldn't loosen nor My new M18 fuel impact with 700lbt. My dad stole my first one for the company since he liked it so much so he bought me the new one. He also stole my Milwaukee m18 1/4" impact drive, my Milwaukee m18 3/8" impact, and my Milwaukee m18 cordless drill. I got the 3/8" impact back and he bought me a new m18 fuel cordless drill that he still takes from time to time, and i got him a Milwaukee m18 fuel 1/4" impact driver for his b-day. So far he has stole 4 drills off of me and I am about to give up on buying cordlees drills. lol. He also has an old Hilti cordless drill so I don't know how many he actually needs. I have most of them locked up in my own tool box now since a guy who worked for us would use them and put them back with dead batteries.

I got the 1/2" m18 fuel. Best place I could find was Home Depot 2 batteries and charger for 429

i have snap on stuff at work i have the older 3/8" 14.4 volt cordless impact, 18volt 1/2 cordless impact, and 18 volt drill had them for about 4 years used them everyday at work, i droped the 3/8 impact in a bucket of antifreeze and it still worked for about 6 months before i had to send it in for rebuild

I have to be careful with the milwaukee. It busted the 30 year old cab bolts off instantly. But I got it on one of the bed bolts and stripped the bed. Luckily I had took off the other three with the socket wrench. Best tool I have bought so far. Very convient when going to the pull a parts

That is why there is a button to switch it to 100lbft of tq instead of the 700lbft of tq. I learned the hard way as well. Lol

I didn't think about swapping the torque. Luckily it was a long bolt on the left front so I could get a pipe wrench on it

I'm not going to buy the Milwaukee cordless impact now. I don't want to take the chance of flipping my truck over. Hey! I saw it on the internet! It's got to be true.
