H3 Wheels on a 87 GMC V1500 4x4 HELP??!?!?

So I need some new wheels for my 87 GMC V1500 single cab long bed. I am currently doing a LS swap.

I have been eyeballing some H3 wheels for it b/c for some reason I love how they look. Unfortunately I am not a part of the 8 lug club yet so I have to get 6 lug.

I found some and talked the guy down to $300 shipped.

I have researched and the lug pattern is the same 6x5.5 and they have a 4" hub bore versus my 87's 3.5" I think. So I may need a hub spacer.

What I am concerned about is I think they use a different size wheel stud. I read somewhere about newer trucks being M14 or something and the H3s are M12 or something like that.

Any ideas what I would need to do to get these to fit? Also I havn't found anyone who has pics of this done before.

HELP?!!?

Here are some pics the guy sent me.

All you need is a conversion lugnut.
One that looks like the original's for that wheel but in your stud size.

Where do I find these at?

Do you foresee any issues with backspacing?

I have read as well people worried about the weight these wheels can hold but I dont see that as a problem.

SEarch on ebay for conversion lugnuts.
Seller 'lugnut king' has all kinds.
Or your local tire store or parts place.
What's the backspace on them compared to your stock ones?

H3 rims are I think 38mm offset? I think it has 5" of backspacing? Not 100% sure. Ive seen people online say H3 wheels have 4 1/2 of backspace up to 5 1/2 backspace cant find a diffinitive answer yet.

My 87 4x4 has I think a 4" back spacing? Not 100% sure.

Re: H3 Wheels on a 87 GMC V1500 4x4 HELP??!?!?

Easy way to remember conversion from metric to standard.
25.4 mm = 1 inch.
So your 38mm is about 1.5 inches.
So with a 7.5 inch wide rim that's actually 8.5 inches total width the backspace is 4.25 (half the width) plus your offset of 1.5 inches equals 5.75 inches.
If your stock ones are 4 inches then those wheels would be tucked in about 1.75 inches.
You could run into interference with suspension stuff.

Meaning too much backspacing and they would hit caliper/tie rods and what not unless I add some wheel spacers. Which I don't want to do.

Possibly!
Depends on rim size too sometimes.
And what tires.
A 16" rim with a narrow tire may clear.
Of course the 'dorky' factor is there too! LOL!!
Some trucks look goofy with the rims/tires tucked inward. JMHO.
There might be replica wheels out there that look like those and might have a better offset.

I just want some rims that are larger than 15" for my truck... Tires for 15" rims aren't too common any more.

The widest tire I would run is like a 10.5 or 11.5 or so. It is 4x4.

I just wish I could find some reasonably priced rims for this truck!

I'm in the middle of a ls swap so budget is kinda slim..

Hoping for a deal like the H3 rims, I was gonna get them for $300.

I put a set of these on an old truck I had.
ION 171's. Nice wheels. Mine were 16x8.
Got them from this guy on ebay. I've bought 3 sets of different rims from him.
Check his store. He sometimes has some nice clearout wheels for cheap.
