Ok gang, I am new to this. I have a 72 blazer I am about to start working on. It has a double wall top with a broken front corner, I was going to work on it and fix the top the best I could but I just found this one. It appears to be a single wall. I have not looked at it other than these pics. What do you think? or is it too tough to tell from this info?

Save your money and get a soft top. I haven't had the hard top on mine in years.

If it has lights inside it is a single wall top, I believe. If yours was a double wall top originally you will have to modify the bed side tops to accept the bolts to attach the top. If your bedsides have threaded inserts in the holes on the top of the bedsides you are good to go. Looks like a good start to me, and it has the lift gate still on it. good find! it does look like that lift gate has a crack on the left side near the handle..

Thanks bouncy I will give that a definite thought. I know these tops are all heavy and not super easy to always remove.

pd1219 Yes mine is a double wall I had seen the modifications and figured I could get the strips and correct bolts to convert. I saw that crack too and there may be others. I may try to look at it when I can just to see. I had posted in a thread a couple down and know more about these tops because of that.
I am not ready for a top yet but thought if the pricing was good I should snatch it as they sure seem hard to find. (all parts for these)

Dave, i have a '72 also, it does have both mounting types, so, check yours as i thought '72s cames that way

Thanks guys I will check mine out, It has been sitting in the waiting room for a couple 3 years to start, it is rougher than I had originally thought. I am about to start the disassembly so I will be able to see it then.

As far as I know all 72 came with noth mount holes. I have both on mine also.

that's great news, does it just take the different bolts? I assume there is a strip on the inside of the top where it bolts for support?

my 72 has both factory installed single wall and double wall options in the bed sides.

I would pick it up, $500 is a good price if it's in decent shape. The best thing about single walls is that you can have interior side panels and not have to remove them to take the top off, the bolts are accessible from the top.

I have both on mine also. __________________ 72 3/4 ton blazer. 5 inch lift on 35 inch tires. 355 corvette engine with crane roller rockers, rv cam, edelbrock carb and intake with one inch spacer. Thrush Headers with flowmaster 40 duels. 4speed sm465 manual. 4 wheel disk brakes with Inboarded rear shock prerunner style mounts and shocks.
