Am at a swap meet near youngstown and see a guy selling an np440 trans...no shifter or linkages. Its the regular chevy bellhousing version. I'm sure of what it is, i run two of them currently. He's asking 600, i didnt ask if he'd take less. Cant really ship but let me know if you want me to snag it.

Yup, and the desirable version that doesn't need the special bellhousing. No shifter or rods though. If it was cheaper i'd snag it for a spare.

I'm looking for a spare but for $600 it better be complete from shifter know to bellhousing.

I think i picked one of mine up for $150 from a guy who didn't know what it was, and another from a guy for $175+shipping so it was like $275. If this one was cheaper (like 200-250) i'd likely grab it just to grab it.

It must've sold, that guy was cleaned out, packed up and gone. It was worth it to someone i guess!

Almost 2 years ago man. Saw on in columbus OH goodguys swap meet a few weeks ago. Wnated 650 too, no shifter. Guy said "they were made for nascar, they helped them win! They only built enough to qualify" Yeah buddy.

I saw one on FB 3 hours away for $300, setup for pontiac 68-72 abody, scatter shield, clutch, shifter, everything. Just couldn't get down there at the time.

Ah man ok ! Im having one built from scratch at a shop in Kentucky and I am gonna bite the bullet and fabricate things to make it feel as close to factory( yes) feel as possible BUT IT WILL SHIFT LIKE BEAUTY and gas friendly too !
Maybe I will post the photos and story ....
