need feedback

I'm getting started on a 59 GMC, the truck was a 3/4t long bed. My intentions are to use a 5.3/4L60E combo. What would you guys recommend for a rear end. I have the original axle etc that came with the truck. I've thought about a 12 bolt or a 9" ford. Here's a picture of the original beast of a rearend.
