Re: longwheel base 47-59 Chevy

Prob useless info. Chevy didn't make a 1/2 longbed in 47-55.1, only 3/4 and larger. However, GMC did make a 1/2 ton longbed, the 150, as well as 3/4 ton and larger. IIRC there were 2 lengths of long beds offered on 3/4 and 1 ton (7' and 9')

Mine. 59 3200. When it sat at stock height, the longbox didn't bother me but now that I've lowered it, I think it would look better as a shortbox. I will be cutting it down sometime soon.

Re: longwheel base 47-59 Chevy

Basically long stepside = weird, long fleet = perfect wheelbase but too much meat behind the wheels

I have a long fleet and I sooo want to cut it down like 6-8" out back

Re: longwheel base 47-59 Chevy

I think I've got some newer pictures at home. This will do for now...

The bed mounted spare changes the appearance dramatically. My bed came from a 63 or 64 truck. The fenders had to be moved forward several inches.

Oh, and a bit of trivia: The side mounted spare sits lower on the long bed trucks. The tire was raised on SWB pickups so it wouldn't hit the cab.
