Back-up lights

Anyone have ideas on back-up lights for a 55 second series? I can't find anything small yet bright enough. I would like to put them on the panel above the bumper and under the tailgate.

Re: Back-up lights

I thought the bed roll lights would be a little cheaper at Mar-K, I was wrong. They must buy them from the same place.

Re: Back-up lights

In '58, reverse lights were available as a dealer accessory. Part no 987454 covered trucks and Suburbans. The rear lights appeared to be the similar to the white front lights for 55-57 trucks. I posted the instructions in another thread.

If you choose a light with a 194 bulb, there is a 2 watt plug in replacement available that is used in European cars. I believe the Sylvania number is W2W.

Hmmm... These might work well.

Thanks to all. I like the bed roll idea, but they aren't cheap. I also like the look of the Alan Horvath idea. I might look for these and other marker or signal lights that can be re-purposed. Thanks again...what a great site!!

Good idea and well hidden. Also the least invasive and probably the easiest to install.
Thanks

If you also taking about bed roll lights here is what one of the Stovebolters did. Here is the whole post so you can follow the history of the forum http://www.stovebolt.com/ubbthreads/...=973073&page=1

Here is how he did it

Two pack of HF LED flashlights $2.99:

Two 1-1/4x 3/4 PVC reducer bushings $1.59 ea.:

Five pack of carbon film dropping resistors $1.49 (two used):

Red tail light lens blister pack from Wal-Mart trailer parts rack $3.59 (makes 4 lenses).

This picture is taken at an angle, LED's are very directional as
opposed to an incandescent bulb. How bright you say? Shine one
of these 7LED cluster flashlights in your face and you'll see
it first hand:
