Disc brake conversion
Well I finally bought another money Pit, 1969 C10 SWB, 350/350. The truck's in pretty good shape, and the PO had put on a disc brake conversion, or at least half of one anyway. The truck was a manual power brake truck, and the problem I see is that he kept the stock Master/booster & prop valve and just made it work... no wonder it doesn't stop worth a damn Now I've done a few disc brake conversion before, but they were manual w/o a power booster, and I just added the new booster with everything else. My question is... do I need to replace the booster along with the Prop Valve & Master, or will the stock booster work. I was hoping not to have to do this again, but you really have to check other peoples work when you buy these old trucks

Re: Disc brake conversion
Booster will work. Youll need a disc drum master cyl and prop valve. Cpp has a good one theres a new prop valve on here for 75.00. And youll have to replace the front lines as well as theyre different and wont screw imto the new prop valve.

Re: Disc brake conversion
Thanks, thought it might but wasn't sure. I have a prop valve left over from a previous build, just need to get a new master.

Re: Disc brake conversion
I looked up a master cylinder for a 72 and it shows a 1.125" bore. and the one for my 69 as a 1" bore. Do I need to get a different rod too???

Do you happen to know if I need to replace the rod in the OE Master, the size are different between a Manual Power Master and a Disc Master Cylinder. Thanks, Clay |
