Pitman arm help

Well I encountered a small issue and need some help. I had some play in the steering so i pulled the truck apart and found the pitman arm is very worn to the point were the tapped hole is on longer tapped . I cant seen to find one anywhere does anyone know where I can find one? It's a 55 gmc 2nd series with manual steering. Only numbers I find are 3718863gm4 and on the other side is 1040

Re: Pitman arm help

Hopefully someone has one in their pile out behind the shop left over from a crossmember or subframe swap.

I'll have to say, that's the most worn out one I've ever seen.

71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant.
77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

Hello S&D. I have a maybe part that if it will work for you, you are more than welcome to have. The part # is close but not the same. This is from a 55.2 chevy. Here are some shots with the dimensions. 1040L is the other #. Center to center is about 6.125. Tapered hole is .645 to .730. Splined hole 1.025 to1.085. Over all length 6.95. And did I say that its painted yellow.

How much you looking to get for it? I'll try and measure mine to see if it will work. Thanks

Re: Pitman arm help

Hey S&D. Just postage. Its been hanging on my wall for years. It seems like it should fit with the Chevy/GMC parts interchange. If it will fit it needs a new home.

Re: Pitman arm help

There you go. That should fit in one of those 5 dollar and something priority mail boxes pretty easy.

Re: Pitman arm help

Yeah, mr 48chev, thats what I'm thinking to. Arm weights less than 2lbs and should fit in the box.
