Chassis question

What, if any, differences are there between a 1967 1/2 ton chassis and a 1972 1/2 ton chassis? Both are SWB and coil spring. Can I just swap them out? Thanks in advance.

I am not a 100% on the differences as I'm a 60 to 66 guy but one thing that does come up in all the frame swap threads is the vin number issue. The truck will now have non matching vins and each state has it's laws on how this is delt with. You would need to check with your DMV.

Suspension pieces all swap. The frame rails are different up front after the 68 model (fuel pump & power steering accessibility).

I think the '67 has something different where the p/s sector bolts, but that won't affect you since you're going PB with R&P. I swapped all my 68 stuff to a '71 frame without issue...

Thanks for all the great replies. I'm afraid that my 67 frame has been tweaked at the front horns and I am trying to make a decision on either taking it to a body shop to get straightened or by another frame for $100.

If the VIN thing isn't a concern & the $100 frame is in better shape, it could save you the repair bill.

Core support mounts on the frame are different sizes also. Smaller on the '67-'68 frames

It's amazing what chaining a truck to a car trailer, a couple 4x4 posts a floor jack and a tape measure will accomplish.

Thanks for all the input guys! I think instead of buying another frame I'm just going to work with this one. I don't think it's too bad if I can't get it right I'll let a body shop get ahold of it.
