Mallory HEI distributor Help.
Hey guys, so I have been putting off figuring out why my 69 C10 hasn't been starting.. Traced it pack to the distributor. Unscrewed the four screws on top and found that the yellow wire was severed. I was barely manipulating the top to see how i might replace it and the red one broke as well. I am semi mechanical but mostly on new cars.
I have been learning from the great help you guys have been giving me. Can someone tell me or show me where I can find directions on how to replace this? thanks so much. |

Re: Mallory HEI distributor Help.
ok quick update: I pulled the severed prongs out and removed the coil from the cap. Can I just solder them back on or should I buy new prongs?

Re: Mallory HEI distributor Help.
You should be able to pull the prongs out and re-solder.. odd that they would be so poorly connected, but you never know..

Re: Mallory HEI distributor Help.
Seems to me, you re trying to pull the coil pack out with the cover, coil should stay in distri.cap as you take the two screws out to remove the cover...
I don t like to solder, as it can make the wires brittle, a good crimp should hold, just unplug coil from cap, then remove coil if need be New connecters is my vote
