E-Rod LS3

Anybody doing this swap on their square? thinking of going this route down the road to my 83. Being a Cali truck it is CARB approved I know it would pass a smog test but what about the VISUAL ??? how did GM get around this? any Cali drivers have any input

Re: E-Rod LS3

As I understand it, the E-Rod packages are supposed to be emissions compliant. I would ask a GMPP dealer in CA to confirm this.

Re: E-Rod LS3

They are the only plug, and play carb approved swap. GM did this to sell more engines for a tiddy profit. All you have to do is hook up a emissions canister to your fuel system, and bolt her in. The only issue's I have heard are exhaust manifold related, and up grading the fuel system for some people.

My thought is if I got one would I be able to use a TVS supercharger on it.

They have the option for one, and I heard. Just have not tried to verify that the stock harness supports the trans. 4L65 or 4L80 with a wiring mod.

The way I read it is the engine controls are self contained and the tranny has it's own controller, my ? is what about all the emissions hardware that's on the old eng, how do they grade you on a smog test with the VISUAL, my engine bay looks like a snake pit
