BB block in 4X4
How fare do you have to move the engine forward to make a BB look stock in a 4x4 blazer and how many problems will I get into.

Re: BB block in 4X4
The reason the small block is so far back in the 4x4's is for front differential clearance. This is going to be compounded by installing a big block, so I am not sure moving it forward is the best answer.
Do you plan to run a lift? I would think that would help.

Re: BB block in 4X4
It ends up being about 2 1/2". Without a lift, it may not work.

Re: BB block in 4X4
When I got mine it had the big block. It' hasn't been moved forward at all. The drivers side valve cover is really tight..But I'm going to notch the fire wall a little before I go back together.

Re: BB block in 4X4
Look over in the 4X4 section. If the cab mounts are good and you run low valve covers, nothing has to be moved.

Re: BB block in 4X4
I've heard a body lift is the easiest answer to getting them to fit with the tight firewall clearances, it is what I will be doing when I install one in mine.

Re: BB block in 4X4
My short bed had a big block in it when I bought it. The only thing they (whoever installed it) did was hammer on the firewall a bit to get the distributor to clear. There is a small profile HEI you could get to save room and not have to beat up the firewall. The BB was mounted in the same holes as the small block. I saw no other issues with mine when it was in there. My truck is in pieces now so I have no picks to show you, sorry.
