Shock question
Hey guys - first post!
I bought a project 71 Cheyenne and the guy I bought it from said that he had installed 2" lowering spindles up front and 4" shorter coil springs in back. I tried to search on this because I know it has to have been covered a 1000 times, but I'm having trouble with the search function. My questions are: 1. I can use the standard length shocks for the front, correct? 2. I need to get 4" shorter than stock rear shocks, correct? Any recommendations on brand or supplier? Thanks a lot! |

Re: Shock question
Im gonna say with 2" front , stock shock hieght should be ok. 4" rear drop , i would use a shock relocator or shorter shocks. Both can be purchased from any of the vendors in the suzpension marketplace and they will also confirm or deny my suggestion and offer great advice.

Re: Shock question
Thanks for the reply NEWFISHER.
I'll look in the vendor section. I didn't even know that they made the shock relocator kits - I'll look into this. |

Re: Shock question
A lowered spindle shouldn't have an effect on shock length IIRC.
I would think the rear, however, needs different shocks; and a relocation kit as was previously mentioned. If part numbers on the existing shocks are still visible you might be able to cross reference to see what the P/O installed (e.g. stock shocks v. drop shocks). And while under there it wouldn't be a bad idea to snap a few pictures of the spindles and drop springs to post on here for folks to verify. War Eagle by the way! |

Re: Shock question
Thanks for the reply bMr~!
I found some of the old receipts and it looks like the parts were purchased from Summit Racing. I'm going to get in touch with them - I'm sure that they can point me in the right direction. I also talked to my brother who has a '68 and he agreed with the shock relocator kits and an adjustable panhard bar... I'm learning something new every day about these trucks. Ha ha, I like the WE btw~! Roll Tide brother. |
