High Hump bolt size?

getting ready to bolt in my new high hump and wondering what the original bolts were? Also I'm thinking of installing them using rivnuts. Anyone think of a reason why this would not be a good idea? seems to beat the heck out of welding in a bunch of square nuts.... especially as I don't have access to a lift at the moment.. thx

5/16 inch shoulder bolt, that's what I call them. They're a 5/16 inch hex head bolt with a round base on them.

Correct, 5/16-18", I used 3/4" length I believe. You can use rivnuts, that's one way. I went ahead and did the square nuts myself, was actually pretty easy to do with it sitting on the ground in the driveway.

Thanks fellas!
I've got a fancy ARO air rivnut gun that I don't get to use often enough so this is a good opportunity put it to work.

I've got a nice Marson giant thread setter tool myself. Take some pics when your done. I just finished doing this conversion myself a couple weeks ago.

Re: High Hump bolt size?

They aren't shoulder bolts. They are called body bolts. Similar to a washer head or flange head bolt.

Re: High Hump bolt size?

you should be able to find them all over the truck holding on the fenders, parts of the bed, dash etc.. the ones that take the 1/2 inch socket.
