rear gas tank love!

Hey fellas! I'm fighting my rear mount gas tank.
Its kinda winning. Lol!
I had to add shims on both sides of the mounting brackets. Bunch of other B.S.

One thing I can't make my mind up on is the feed port.
I have some hard line, but it seems to me running 2' of hose then hard line would be OK.

Or should I run 3" of hose then go to hard line.
It would be suspended for about 1' 1/2 til it gets frame to fasten it.

Any pic. Of a carb set up with mech pump?

Any help would be appreciated.

also.. on the sending unit. the top plate has, what looks like two grounding points.

does it matter witch one I use? I haven't added any gas yet. I want to make sure I got all this right.

I did use the small round screw on the top plate. left the male spade alone.

any thoughts?..

One ground, other is gauge lead.

I would never run a rubber hose next to the tail pipe unless you have a death wish. Run a steel line till you get a foot or so past it. Your asking for problems.

I know the center is gauge power. its the smaller screw. are they both grounds. spade and small screw?

that hose is just mocked up. not even hooked up to anything. maybe ill run 1" hose then hard line the rest.

pic. are a little misleading. ill have my coffee in the morning and rethink this through.

The stud on the sending unit goes to the ground side of your gas gauge. The male spaded is to connect a ground wire from say your frame.

I would try and run a steel line from your gas tank with a 90* bend at the tank and run it over your exhaust.

Connecting 12v to the center stud will allow all of the smoke to escape from the sender. They won't work anymore once the smoke gets out....thank God I didn't have mine immersed in gas and vapor when I learned that fact.

I already hook it up. only problem, I think the stock gas tank uses that 30ohm sender.

the dude that owned the truck before me added after market "autometer" gauge.

he must have ordered that gauge with a 30ohm gauge.

cause now. 9 gals. of fuel in it. only reads 1/6 of a inch over "E"

kinda a big project for one person. I rather try a $20.00 gauge swap then lower "haidys balls" again. j/k.

side note: I was surprised on how fast the truck started without even skip in the idle.

that mech. pump must be sucken some pressure. lines where dry and lots of uphills to get to it. just sayin..
