Undercoating removal

So whats the best way to remove undercoating from a frame the sandblast guy says that doesn't work just gums up.Thanks Oz

I used a heat gun and a scraper. Lots of work.

ZEP Orange Gel Degreaser removed 3 year old asphalt sealer from my basement floor with ease....I wonder if it would have any effect?

Like most ZEP products, it works best at a warm temperature and if allowed to sit on the target material for a couple of minutes.

I had same problem, used zip strip. worked.

I used a small proprane torch and a putty knife... heat it up a little and scraped it right off.

I never did it myself and maybe someone who did will chime in on this but I think I remember reading posts on here that guys used oven cleaner. Not sure though.

go to your local autopaint supplier and buy the stuff without the eastwood premium price and no shipping costs either

This method worked best for me too. I did the whole bottom of my cab, inner fenders and wheel tubs for the bed.
It's slow but it works better than anything else I tried.

You can also use a wire wheel on your angle grinder but it is messy and time consuming.

I scraped the whole underneath of my Challenger-took 20ish hours. I did not want the mess of a chemical, and up here in the great white north we don't have the selection you 'southerners' do LOL. I used a scraper (hard putty knife) and a heat gun, but mostly the scraper. Hard to reach areas I used a wire wheel on an old drill. It heated the undercoat up from friction and worked real well, but time consuming. I then had the underneath sandblasted. I also used wd40 to soften the thick hard to reach areas. good luck

Thank you everyone !Been using a torch and wire wheels on 4 and a half inch grinder.Slow but steady.
