Question New Venture 5 spd

Has anyone put a New Venture 4500 5 spd tranny in a 67-72 C-10? What kind of bellhousing do you need? What is needed for the clutch. I plan on putting in a 350 SB out of a 79' Chevy. The tranny donor is a 93 3500, but it has a hydraulic clutch. Any help on this subject would be helpful, THANKS.

52peed

I put in a 5 speed from a 96 1/2 ton truck. This is a 2x4 deal. I put it in my 72 Cheyenne. I can send you some pictures but the issues are really not tough:
*- you have to set up the pedals to accomodate the hydralic clutch master cylinder
* - You have to get an automatic crossmember to support the rear of the trans
* - you have to poke a hole in the firewall and mount the master cylinder
* - you have to consider a high hump floor for the top of the trans and shifter
* - you have to have your front drive shaft length adjusted
* - you have to figure out how to have a speedo set up as the newer trans are electronic sensed verses gear/cable driven

I bought the trans complete with bellhousing, clutch, output for drive shaft, etc. for $650. then another $200+ for driveshaft.

I got 5 of the 6 above worked out. Get 20+mpg out of a 350 pushing about 260HP with a 308posi rear, headers, HEI, etc.
I do not have a solution for the speedo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I put a NV4500 in my 71 4x4, it all should be the same from the motor to the transmission. I used a GM bellhousing with hydraulic clutch. I think the 4500 has two bolt patterns, so make sure you get the correct bellhousing for the transmission. Advance Adapter also builds a bellhousing that uses the stock mechanical clutch in your pickup. The clutch was quite easy to use, just a little bit of planning to get the clutch master mounted correctly. I can't speak to the other issues Huck mentioned, but what he mentioned sounds like it would be the same for the 4500.
