I use a hi speed grinder with a cut off disc. Dangerous, but effective.

How do you finish the weld to make it look so good?

Ive had good results progressively going more fine with abrasive disks then finish it with a dual action and 220-400 grit..

I had the pleasure of meeting ebfabman at good guys in fall and he is a great guy with a truly cool Mercury, if you are on the fence about his vids don't be , he is good people and great body guy, wish I could afford for him to do the 67 . Earl hope you are well.

For repairs like that so much of the job depends on your welder being setup properly (wire speed/voltage). Practice on old sheet metal is your best bet. Or take a welding course at your local community college or votech. You'd be surprised what you can do.

ebfabman,

I have to do my cab corners. I will probably wait a year or so until the truck needs to be repainted. One question (I will most likely buy your CD's) I have is it looks like you made your seam at the ridge. Is that the best place vs. doing it where the panels are flat?
