Bucket seats in C10 -81. Original or not?

My dad and i are having an argument about my bucket seats in my -81 C10 being original or not.

Im determined its original from the factory but hes determined they come frome a Blazer.

Do anyone know if singelcabs were sold with buckets or only bench seats?

This is the only pic i have of my interior at the moment:

It is possible, but a VERY long shot.

What does your SPID show?

Here is the generic info packet from the GM Heritage Center archive for an '81 pickup.

It will show all of the available options and combinations.

Depending on how badly you want to win/lose this argument: you can send your VIN and $50 to the Heritage Center and they will send you the actual invoice for your specific truck, including option content and pricing.

Perhaps "loser" could pay for the info packet.

Re: Bucket seats in C10 -81. Original or not?

The factory buckets in my truck were from a 81. From what I hear 81 was the last year offered.

Re: Bucket seats in C10 -81. Original or not?

81 is the last year for bucket seats in a pickup. Take a quick peek at the bracketry...especially the front inner floor tabs...if they are welded to the floor and the factory color of your truck...odds are they are factory. Spid sheet in the glove box would also verify this.

does the truck seat base bolt up like the burb base?
different underside seat bolt holes are used in the Blazer seat bases

The spid is gone unfortunately.

The brakets on the floor are brown as the rest of the surfaces inside the cab so i guess they are original?

Are the brakets different for the bench seat or dose it bolt right in?

bench is two,left/right.
of course the buckets are four ,two each
you would have to add the inside holes, would not have the welded in nuts in floor for all four

Well not exactly, buckets have two adjustable seat tracks on the drivers seat and four individual brackets to mount the passenger seat stationary.

I can see the way the back feet kick up differently too.

Re: Bucket seats in C10 -81. Original or not?

I have seen a number of factory ordered regular cabs with the high back buckets in ambulances and utility trucks and such. My company had a special ordered 4x4 regular cab with high back buckets and air conditioning and the rear cab was cut open to the enclosed utility bed to work in a climate control area to handle fiber cable splices. There was a posting here about a black 84 Chevy SWAT team K30 cab chassis/ box truck on eBay a couple months back that has factory high back buckets in it but no console. May have been removed for the modification. I believe they always have been available to be ordered from the factory depending on your dealer and zone rep. I think even the Military ambulance cab chassis trucks had the high back bucket seat option from GM in 1986. I'm thinking Keith Seymore may have seen a lot of bucket seat reg cab trucks if he was at Janesville plant as it seems most of the HD trucks came from that plant. Got to remember most body upfitter companies won't touch commercial truck modifications to seats and seat belts after the liability laws got tougher.

some of the cab and chassis trucks had buckets way up in the 80s for police fire and ems use. idk if it was special order only thing.
