convert 72 doors to 67-71 style.

I'm wanting to switch my 72 door panels to the 67-71 metal panel style. I know the knobs are to long and need to be swapped to the shorter style.

I know I have to weld some type of nut for screws to go into at the bottom of the panel.

I'm having problems with panel, and the chrome strip fitting inside the indention in the door. Is this smaller on the 72's? Or do I need to do a little grinding to make it fit?
