Mystery Power Steering bracket
I am trying to get my power steering pulleys to align, but this bracket looks like it might be aftermarket or custom. Can anyone ID this thing? If it is not correct, where can I get a correct one? 1970 c10 350 (no factory options)

Re: Mystery Power Steering bracket
Thanks John, I clearly do not have an original style bracket...
I am not too fond of the one finger steering; would it be a mistake to convert to a manual steering box?

Re: Mystery Power Steering bracket
There are several setups for small block. Yours looks similar to one of the factory brackets from some early cars I've seen. There are several different pulleys also.

I've also noticed that many ps setups don't align any better than yours.

Re: Mystery Power Steering bracket
Thanks Uncle, before it was using the old style crank pulley (1 low, 2 raised) and ran fine even though crooked.

Re: Mystery Power Steering bracket
The brackets you have are slightly modified OEM earlier brackets, all you really need to make that setup work is a different power steering pump pulley. (I am not sure of the exact part number but the one you have is flat and you need one that has a slight cone)

Re: Mystery Power Steering bracket
I agree. Here's a somewhat fuzzy zoomed in picture of the original on my 69. If you compare it to yours, you can see that the left side, where the 2 bolts pass through, appears to have been removed. Mine does, however, use the flat pulley, but my truck has A/C if that matters.

Re: Mystery Power Steering bracket
Thanks guys, that makes perfect sense. Here is another angle of the bracket. It has grinder marks from some modification. Also in the background is the original crank pulley (old style). Mystery solved!

Re: Mystery Power Steering bracket
Hmm, that one looks a little different in terms of the hook size and some other dimensions...
