Anyone want a very rough Short Fleet bed to restore?? It's FREE!
Here is the deal. I have a VERY ROUGH Short Fleet bed that I am getting ready to take to the crusher. It has a holey floor (steel), a couple of bad cross supports, and patch panels galore (steel, glass, and bondo). Even the wheelhouses are funky...rusty and rough around the edges. Also it has no front panel (I'm keeping it to swap on to my newly aquired bed)...but it does have a tailgate, complete with rust across the bottom (no pics of gate...yet).
The rear (tail light area) is OK and appears to never have been hit... My question is...could anyone out there use this bed for anything...or should I just take it on down to the crusher? I thought about practicing on it when I get my new welder...but I already have a couple of trashed doors to do that on. It is FREE to a good home if someone wants to come and get it. I just thought that someone who is good with a torch may want it to 'tub', mod, or cut the good parts off of it. Or someone may want to try and repair the floor.... If not...there goes another Short-Fleet bed off into oblivion. :crying: Heres a few pics of the bed: Last edited by SLS; 08-14-2003 at 01:57 AM. |

For now I'm gonna leave the rods on..if someone wants the bed they will need all the good parts they can get. LOL 72addict: I hate to say it, but there is a bondo spot (filling a small hole) right on the body line of the piece you want. On the other hand, the driver side lower rear panel is good (except the tab where the splashguard bolts on). It is still on the removed splashguard...with the bolt in it. Brently: Here are 3 pics of when it was still on the truck..tailgate too: I can take some more if wanted. |

Next Sat...if not before.
This bed is sitting in my driveway behind my project. As I have to bother my friends to come over to help move it around, I don't want to move it around any more than necessary. It is in the perfect spot now to just back my trailer up to it...and kick it in by myself. Not only is it in my way...but if it sits there long I'm afraid that the neighbors will call the 'Codes Dept.' on me. LOL! |
