Front shock ripped out of frame

So my front driver shock ripped out, which is evidently pretty common. I was thinking about getting these instead of repairing the hole:

My question is, I have the front drop shocks from ECE (KYB I think?). It looks like this mount is an inch or so higher up, will the drop shocks work ok? Or will I need standard length ones?

Sorry,don't mean to hijack, I don't know but I'm interested in the shock mount kits even though I'm not lowering my truck. I wanted to hop on board this thread to see what the others have to say. But while I'm here I'm thinking as long as the shock does not hyper-extend to either end of the suspension travel you should be OK. What I'm reading into the bracket ad is an angle change for better shock response.

Yeah I don't think it will matter, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has any experience. I don't really want to buy shocks to replace new shocks..

I'm in the process of starting a rebuild of my front end and notice today that my upper shock mount hold is oval. At this point I'm not sure what to do, but I just made post asking for advice.

Just wanted to share.

jack your truck up and see how close your current shock will reach before it will bottom out at full travel when bolted to the new upper mount. I'm guessing you should be fine.

So I think my shocks will be fine, but there is no way I could drill the holes at the top of the frame without taking a lot of crap off. I don't want to do that, is there another option I could go with? Like a side mounted bracket?

Here is my repair.
3/16 plate cut into a fender washer size piece with a snug fitting hole for the shock mount.
attached shots include...
new shocks, upper mounting bolts, and the 3/16 plate.
three shots of the wallowed out shock mount hole.
mig welded plate with shock stud installed.
The date code on the pictures indicate that the repair was made 5 years ago. No problems since.

That looks good. Probably the best/easiest solution, if you have welding capabilities...

I will be the first to admit , my welding capabilities are merely adequate.
It gets the job done.
I believe that practice makes perfect and I'm having fun along the way.
