Re: Stepside bed replacement

No. The bedsides are different. 67-72 fenders and steps WILL NOT bolt up to a 73-87 bed.

You CAN make them work, but you will need to drill the holes for the 67-72 fenders, and weld a lower front section on from a 67-72 bed where the step bolts up. I can't remember how close the cross sills are.

Re: Stepside bed replacement

thanks for the input, I also got the same answer form Mar-k. Anyone ever use fiberglass to patch their bedsides? I happen to have tons of 2x2 stuff and a pair of bedsides riddled with holes...

Re: Stepside bed replacement

I edited my post above... started to edit it and got caught up in work stuff before I hit save.

Another member did a detailed write up with pictures years ago (member "palfstep"), but I can't locate it now. If you can weld it can be done. You only really need to replace the front lower section of the 73-87 bed with a 67-72 section (for the 67-72 step to bolt up)... and drill a lot of new holes and weld up the old ones.

Re: Stepside bed replacement

I did find that write up,http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=123833, but i was also looking at my bed and it may be salvageable. I have found two fenders in good shape and here are some pics. i think with some fiberglass it could be good.

Good to see another Central Florida member on here. I believe I have seen that truck in person before.
