New to the club

Hey all,

I've been lurking on the site for a while now, but this is my first post. I've been a member on some pretty active forums, so I know the drill. I will be asking plenty of questions, but not without searching first (don't want to be the newbie getting flamed for every post). I really don't know too much about cars, or working on them in general, but I've never had an issue with learning and I am pretty handy. If anyone can give me a heads up on dos/dont's for the forum, or if there is a sticky somewhere I can find it, that would be great.

I just tonight picked up an 86 stepside custom deluxe. The body is in pretty good shape, minimal rust and the original paint is in decent shape. Its got a 350 in it with a saginaw 4 on the floor, converted from a column shift. He said he put a mild cam on it, and upgraded the intake manifold, carb and air cleaner. It runs well, just a bit of a PITA to drive with the clutch/shifter the way it is. He also put a new gas tank, fuel line, brake lines, and it's lowered with aluminum wheels.

Edit* Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic. I'll get some better ones up tomorrow.

Somethings you need to ask yourself like how will i use this truck and how i want it to be.And budget is a big one and most can tell you whatever you think you'll spend you end up double that. The good thing about these trucks a monster aftermarket and you can build one any way you want really.

Re: New to the club

Thanks guys. First thing I want to do is swap out the tranny for an automatic. Can't decide between 350, 400, or 700r4. I'll mostly drive around town, not too much on the highway, but the appeal of the 700r4 is nice with the overdrive. After that, I'm redoing the interior from top to bottom. More pics coming after I upload them.

Re: New to the club

As promised, here are more pics. I actually created a photobucket album, it's just easier that way. The more I look at it, the more questions I have lol.
