Re: 1960 Daily driver

I just want a daily driver. Someone has already put a 250 striaght six in it. Plan on keeping that along with an automatic trans. I want to change the front end to power disc brakes. I got a long row to hoe but hopefully I'll get there someday.

Re: 1960 Daily driver

Update. ......I have acquired a 86 c10 that instead of swapping out the front suspension. I think it would be more prudent to just swap the body. I know that it will sit higher but I kinda like a higher stance anyways. Will post pics soon.

Thought you fellas would like to get a laugh today. I sold a few parts from the 86. This is how the bed made it way to its new home.

…and I thought that type of loading only happened south of the mason-dixon line…

from what I've read out here, that swap to the newer frame isn't a straight bolt on job… Lots of measuring and some fabrication in your future...

Doing the swap to a newer frame will be a tonnnnn of more work than just swapping the front suspension. It won't sit higher or anything swapping to a newer frame or not. Just lots and lots of cutting and welding for the body mounts an perches an so on and so forth versus swapping and unbolting the front suspension.

Re: 1960 Daily driver

I always recommend against that. If not for all the work involved and the 4x4 look, for the possible legal issues that could result.

x2

Question:
What if you moved all the running gear over to the original frame instead? or did I miss something?

Dig your ambition. Keep at it.

Re: 1960 Daily driver

In order to get the leaf spring rearend there would be a lot of fab work as well. Remember fellas the 60 suspension and frame are different. I thought about this a bit and I believe to get a dependable daily driver it is the best way.

Although you are technically correct the mason Dixon line just kinda ends in Kansas. Like it or not the state goes down in history as a northern state it's not the south.
This concludes our history/geography lesson for the day.
