GTO 5.7 motor and trans
has anyone put one of these in our trucks? I have a line on a complete setup out of a wrecked GTO. the motor/trans has 63xxx miles on it. would it be similar as a 5.3 0r 6.0 going into our trucks? I assume it cant be much different. and what would be a fair price for said motor/trans, computer, wiring harness, drive by wire pedal and all engine accessories?

Without oversimplifying it is really pretty close. The intake is gonna be shorter by several inches being a car intake but the block is the same diametrically speaking it will be aluminum instead of cast iron like a truck block[there are a few exceptions] but as far as swapping goes you shouldn't have any problems putting it in there. thanks guys for the info, no its not the one from Craigslist. and the price is 4600 so I guess it's fair
sounds like this could be an option in the future

if it has a t56 its worth that maybe. if its an auto def. less.
the t 56 on a gto is similar to the corvette one. it has better syncros then the Camaro versions so its a better at shifting. If it is a t56 you will have to convert the tranny to a f body style because the shifter is behind the tranny on a gto. So it will be in the middle of your seat. the only other difference is the starter. its smaller then a f body so will have to match. It really is just an Ls1 motor and for some reason people still want a ton for them. I am sure you could probably get a ls2 setup for that price. good luck either way god bless bpatrol |

yea to me not worth that money. go get a 6.0 out of a truck with tranny and you will save some money for the conversion parts u need.

What he said^^. The last Two 6.0's I sold with pcm and 4L80E and wiring [you know complete pullout type thing] were like $1250 and $1500. So you could by lots of extra parts, body panels, resto stuff, or trucks for that matter. Jim

It's an LS1 only if it is a 2004 model year motor. In 2005 & 2006 Pontiac used the LS2. In any case, the motor is not the same as the Corvette motor. There are differences internally that de-tune the GTO version. Depending on year, 4700-5500 is a good price.

sorry Fitz, He stated 5.7 so it has to be a 5.7. It will be identical to a corvette motor. same cam same heads same intake. it is a ls6 motor with ls6 intake 243 heads sodium valves and same cam. internally the same and the best and last ls1/ls6 made. Power might have been slightly higher due to exhaust manifolds but that's it.
Its a nice motor don't get me wrong but there are better cheaper options for a truck at that price. |

So far as I recall, and you'll want to check this before making a decision on it, the original LS1 and LS6 could not be bored any further. You'd have to sleeve it during a rebuild.
I think a later LS2, LS3, LQ9 or similar would be better and maybe even cheaper. I would recommend you get the wiring harness and send it out to a specialty shop that can "cut it down" to run your engine without worrying about gauges and all of that.

I recently bought a LS1 and 4l60E for $2300 inc harness, acessories and PCM with 123k miles.
