Looking for Drop/wheel/tire thread

I'm jonesing to get a RCSB or 2dr/2wd Tahoe or Yukon. I'm looking for a thread (thought it might be a sticky) with all the specs on different drops with what size wheels/back space and tires would fit without rubbing and/or bottoming out. I'd like to do around a 4/6 drop. I already have a brand new set of Eagle 225s 20x8.5 and 20x10 with front offset 4.5 and rear at 5.5. Tires are 245/40 and 295/40. Maybe these will work? If anyone has any pictures or knows of the thread I'm looking for I'd appreciate your help.

Re: Looking for Drop/wheel/tire thread

He's the ride that started it all. I found it on craigslist but can't get the guy to budge on the price. Figured maybe I'll just build one if I can use my wheels and tires.

Re: Looking for Drop/wheel/tire thread

Well good luck , I had the Eagle 225 wheels same as you and I was told they would not work with any kind of a drop so I sold them! The kicker is I have a bunch of picks with these wheels on dropped trucks . I'm in Phoenix away from my source of pics but I can post them up when I get back home .

Re: Looking for Drop/wheel/tire thread

4.5 bs in the front probably isn't enough.
I run between 5 1/4 & 5 3/4 bs up front.

(PS I want that Tahoe!)

These are 5 1/4 up front & I wish they were 5 1/2.

Re: Looking for Drop/wheel/tire thread

It's hard to find nice wheels with the right back spacing , unless you go Billet and I won't do that for a dd... I wanted to run some 20x8 with 4"bs front and 5.75 rear on a 2\4 drop and I'm told it won't work . It's frustrating

Me too! I should just nut up and buy it and quit messing around with trying to find one stock and have to go through all the hassle of building it. I found a gray one in OKC for 2 grand less that was sweet but he sold it right away.

5/6 drop with 20x8.5 with 5.25 bs & 255/35/20's in front & 20x10 with 5.5 bs & 275/35/20's in rear.

I plan to lower it down some more this winter... just not where I'd like it

Do you rub? Did you have to roll fenders?

Fenders are rolled. No rubbing.

Re: Looking for Drop/wheel/tire thread

4.5"bs is borderline with the 8" wheels I'm running. With an 8.5 I would want 5.5"bs like JWall suggested. Sweet find btw. If I had the $$$ I'd buy it.

Here is the lowered thread I found
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=580341

Made it a sticky so we can easily add to it in the future. Thanks for the idea. Thought we already had one.

I guess a spacer would be too wide for me? Looks like I missed out, he sold it.

Thanks, I saw that one but was kinda small and thought it would have more info. Drop, wheel/tire size, wheel specs, etc...

These look to be 225s. Anyone know if this ride belongs to a fellow forum member? I tried to search by his photobucket user name but no luck.

I don't think I'm following you on the use of a spacer. Spacers would make the wheels sit further out you're looking to tuck the wheels in further to avoid hitting the fender lip. Plus it just looks better to me.

That's sweet! Those wheels are very similar to what I want for mine.

I agree with the guys above. I have 18x8" BOSS 338's with 4.5" backspacing, & it's not quite enough for me, even running a measly 235 tire. Everything was already installed when I bought it though.

Btw, Coys Wheel will also do custom backspacing. I plan to save up for a nice set of billets for mine one day though. I'll just have to get them clear coated to help with upkeep.

So what issues do you have with 4.5 bs?

I kick myself for not buying it. I've found a few more but not close like that one was.

No major issues, but I'd like for the wheels to sit inside the wheel wells a bit more. That would definitely be needed if I wanted to run a wider tire. I'm lowered 4" up front with spindles/springs. The PO trimmed the fender lips. I think before he did that though, the passenger front tire hit the lip at some point, cause a slight cut mark into the outside edge of the tire. In other words, 4.5" backspace can work on a 4" front drop with 18x8 wheel, however it's not ideal for me.

what are your thoughts on a 20x8 with 4.5" bs on just a 2" drop?

Clearance wise, I'd think you'll be fine. Not sure how wide of a tire you want to run though, so that'll determine whether it sticks out or not.
